Description
Vikril is the wattled violet thread or unpainted thread from a poliglaktid 910 covered poliglaktiny 370 and calcium stearate. Thread resolves in the course of hydrolysis in this connection reaction of fabric is minimum. Thread has the covering minimizing traumatization of fabric and facilitates setting of nodes.
Scope
Comparison and/or alloying of soft tissues in all fields of surgery, ophthalmology, gynecology and gastroenterology. Not to apply in cardiovascular and neurosurgery.
wound healing Time
35 days
resorption Term
56-85 days
Vikril Suture material is the synthetic resolving sterile suture material made of copolymer which for 90% consists of glycolide and for 10% from L-lactide. An empirical formula of copolymer - (C2H2O2) of m(C3H4O2) n.
Vikril is covered with the mix consisting of equal parts of copolymer of glycolide and lactide (Poliglaktin 370) and calcium stearate. It is known that Poliglaktin copolymer 910, Poliglaktin 370 and calcium stearate, have no antigenic properties, are depyrogenized and cause insignificant reaction of fabrics at resorption.
Vikril is painted byin violet color, also unpainted material is released. VIKRIL can have various thickness and length, to be delivered separately (ligatures) or together with needles from stainless steel of various types and the sizes (atravmatik).
Indication
Vikril Suture material intends for approximation of soft tissues, including use in eye surgery, in an anastomosis of peripheral nerves and in microsurgery on vessels with a diameter less than 2 mm. Safety and efficiency of use of the VIKRIL suture materials in cardiovascular surgery is not established.
Route of administration
Should choose and put stitches, considering the following factors: condition of the patient, surgical experience, technology of surgical intervention and size of a wound.
Contraindication
As these suture materials are resolving, they should not be applied where long comparison of fabrics under a tension is required.
Prevention and a precautionary measure
As well as in a case with any other foreign bodys, the long contact of any suture material with saline solution (for example, in urinary or biliary tract) can lead to formation of concrements. Suture materials which remain on skin more than 7 days can cause local irritation. They have to be removed according to the instruction. In fabrics with insufficient blood supply it is necessary to use the resolving suture materials with care as there can be a rejection of suture material and the slowed-down resorption. Hypodermic stitches have to be put as it is possible more deeply for reduction of an erythema and an induration which are usually connected with resorption process. Use of this suture material is not recommended at the elderly, exhausted and weakened patients or if there are conditions which are slowing down wound healing.
Side reactions
Side reactions connected with use of this material include temporary local irritation in the place of a wound, temporary inflammatory reaction to foreign bodys, reddening, puffiness and consolidation in the course of resorption of intracutaneous seams. As well as any other foreign body, Vikril can aggravate the existing infection.
