A rhizome valerian with roots – somnolent and sedative medicine.

Indications

Nervous excitement, insomnia; vegetative neuroses and neurosises of a cardiovascular system; spasms of a digestive tract (as a part of complex therapy).

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to biologically active agents of medicine. Depression.

At hypersensitivity to medicament the sleep disorder and manifestation of opposite exciting effect and also development of allergic reactions is possible

(including rash, an itch, hyperaemia, a cutaneous dropsy). Emergence of abdominal spasms, nausea, dysfunction of intestines is possible; headaches, bradycardia, arrhythmia, weakness, drowsiness, depression, decrease in working capacity.

Route of administration

1 dessertspoon of rhizomes with roots to place

in the enameled ware, to fill in 200 ml of the boiling water, to close a cover and to insist on the boiling water bath of 15 min. To cool at the room temperature within 45 min., to filter, wring out the rest to the filtered infusion. To bring the volume of infusion boiled water to 200 ml. To apply in a warm look 3-4 times a day in 30 min. after a meal: adults and children of 14 years – on 1-2 tablespoon, children are 6-10 years old – on 1 teaspoon, 10-14 years – on 1 dessertspoon. Before application to shake up infusion.

Prepared infusion to store

at a temperature of 8-15 wasps within 2 day.

Duration of treatment is defined by the doctor individually for each patient.

As medicines of a valerian can cause drowsiness, dejectedness in some patients, during treatment it is necessary to be careful at control of motor transport or other mechanisms.

Overdose and prolonged use (longer than 2 months) can lead

to feeling of depression, increased fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, a headache, nausea, bradycardia, increase in fibrillation. Therapy symptomatic (gastric lavage, use of activated carbon, sodium sulfate).

Interaction with other medicines and other types of interactions

Strengthens effect of alcohol, sedative, somnolent, hypotensive, anxiolytic and antispasmodics.
