Description
The RS232 modem cable is used to connect devices that use the RS232 serial interface to the COM port of a computer housed in a DB9 (DE9) housing. You can also flash satellite receivers using a modem cable.
This modem cable is a complete straight-through (modem) cable.
The modem cable is equipped with two connectors in the DB9 (DE9) housing, one “male” and the other “female”. The cable length is 1.4 m.
Pinout of the RS232 interface in the DB9 (DE9) standard connector:
- DCD – data carrier detection (detection of the received signal).
- RX – data received by the computer in sequential code (negative logic).
- TX – data transmitted by the computer in serial code (negative logic).
- DTR – output data readiness.
- GND – signal grounding, neutral wire.
- DSR – data readiness. Used to set the modem mode.
- RTS – transmission request signal. Active during the entire transmission.
- CTS – reset (clear) signal for transmission. Active during the entire transmission. Indicates that the receiver is ready.
- RI - call indicator. Indicates that the modem is receiving a call signal over the telephone network.
