Description
Old comrade CG-47305 was cutting through the turquoise waters of Bodega Bay on a regular patrol of marine sanctuaries when radar detected an object moving at high speed. Of course, this could be the local “golden” youth from San Francisco, pushing their limits on the boat, or poachers. And the crew decided to check the ship because that's the job of the Coast Guard. The patrol boat's engine roared to life and quickly picked up cruising speed. Despite its age, it could still compete with the glamorous powerboats. Moreover, the crew knew these waters like the back of their hands. The chase was short and ended unexpectedly: machine gun fire was heard from the side of the boat. The bullets didn’t even scratch the armored side of the patrol boat, but it became clear to everyone: the matter was taking a criminal turn.
The crew commander notified the police and decided to continue the pursuit. The patrol boat pressed the boat of the attackers closer and closer to the shore. The criminals tried to escape, but there was nowhere to hide in the ocean. And when a police helicopter appeared in the sky and two reserve ranger boats approached from the shore, the fugitives had to turn off their engines. Thus, CG-47305 captured a large shipment of drugs. And the Coast Guard command decided to carry out technical re-equipment of more than 100 boats, which have practically reached the end of their 25-year service life. The US Coast Guard performs many functions: patrolling the coast, rescuing victims at sea, preventing crime and illegal fishing, protecting restricted areas and state borders. The patrol fleet is varied, from small boats to frigates, and each has its own tasks.
Metal Time's engineers chose a standard 47-foot (14.3 m) boat, a staple in US coastal waters, to create Guardian of the Coasts. These ships were produced in the early 90s of the 20th century, and in 2017 it was decided to modernize their fleet, extending their service life by another 20 years. So, the Guardian of the Coasts model is based on a real prototype. Guardian of the Coasts is designed with great attention to detail. The cabin with an overview of the controls, antennas for radio equipment, ladders, handrails and other structural elements of the boat are reproduced in accordance with the original.
Guardian of the Coasts is powered by an electric motor, which powers the boat's radar. The ship's hull is supported by a display platform. Thanks to this, the model can be placed on any horizontal surface as an interior decoration, a collection exhibit, or a layout element. This model will be a challenge to assemble for DIY enthusiasts and will be a great development for metalworking and technical creativity. Like all Metal Time models, Guardian of the Coasts is made from environmentally friendly food grade stainless steel approved for consumer products and toys.
Precise cutting of the kit eliminates the possibility of cuts during the assembly process. The parts are precisely matched to each other and will not create connection problems. Pleasant tactile sensations, durability and aesthetics of brushed metal distinguish steel parts from wooden or plastic ones used in other construction sets. Convenient flat packaging made of environmentally friendly cardboard, suitable for recycling, combines compactness and the aesthetics of a status gift.
