Cooling in MYSTERY thermoelectric refrigerators occurs when direct electric current passes through thermoelectric semiconductor wafers (the “Peltier effect”). One part of the plates is inside the refrigerator chamber, and the other is outside. In cooling mode, the internal parts of the plates are cooled and the external parts are heated. When the direction of current changes, the internal parts of the plates heat up and the external parts cool.
